Explainer Video Production for complex products

Animated explainer videos that make complex things clear

Hard to explain? That's where we start.

Hard to explain? That's where we start.

Some products are hard to explain in words. They're technical, regulated, or simply new, and the people buying them aren't specialists. A good explainer does that job for you: it sits on your website, plays at events and goes into sales decks, and makes the point without a briefing attached.

We work directly with brands, and as an animation team for agencies who need an explainer delivered under their name.

What we make

What we make

Discovery & Script

Every explainer starts with what you need people to understand, and why. We work through the brief with you, find the story, and turn it into a script before anything is drawn.

Character-led films

A character gives an audience someone to follow, which helps a dry subject stick. We design and animate characters in 2D and 3D. See our character animation work

Motion Graphics

Animated type, icons, UI and data, built around your brand. Ideal for software, SaaS and services where the product is on a screen. See our motion design work

3D & CGI products

We can show what's inside a machine, how a process runs, or a product that doesn't exist yet, using 3D models you already have or ones we build. See our 3D animation work

Training & Onboarding

Explainers aren't only for customers. We make films that teach staff a process, onboard new starters, or explain change across a business, so the same explanation is given every time.

Voiceover & Sound

We work with a trusted group of voiceover artists, sound designers and engineers, who come on board when the project needs them.

Solomon Commercials

Solomon Commercials

Some products need a translator. Solomon builds bespoke vehicles to spec, one at a time, and the engineering behind each one is detailed and technical. But the people choosing a supplier usually aren't engineers. They're procurement and operations leads in food distribution, healthcare and pharmaceutical logistics. They don't need the specs. They need to see quickly that Solomon can build at scale, build precisely, and be trusted with regulated, time-critical cargo.

That's what an explainer video is for. MightyGiant made a piece that explains Solomon's capability in the time it takes to watch it. It runs on their website and plays at industry events, so it does the explaining a sales engineer would normally do, without needing one in the room.

Regency Glass

Regency Glass

Some processes are hard to explain any other way. Regency's manufacturing runs through several stages that depend on each other, more than 40 machines, and a level of technical detail that a manual or a one-off induction can't get across to new staff. As the company grew, the cost of that gap grew with it, and onboarding became an operational risk.

A filmed walkthrough of the factory would have meant stopping machinery that can't be paused without losing money. Animation solved that. An animated explainer could show the whole process, every stage and every machine, in a form new starters can watch as often as they need, without a camera ever going near the line.

Why MightyGiant?

Explaining is storytelling. Nobody wants to spend time and budget on a film their audience swipes past in seconds, so we start with the story and build the animation around it. You work directly with a small, senior team, the same people who make the film, following the Mighty Method. We're based in Manchester and work with clients across the UK and beyond.

FAQs | Explainers

What is an explainer video?

An explainer video is a short film, usually animated, that explains a product, service or process clearly. Businesses use them on websites, in sales pitches, at events and for staff training, wherever something needs explaining quickly and the same way every time.

How much does an explainer video cost?

It depends on length, style and detail, so there's no fixed price. A short animation starts at around £10,000, and most of our projects fall between £15,000 and £50,000. Tell us your budget and we'll show you what's possible within it.

How long does it take to make an explainer video?

A 60 to 90 second explainer usually takes 4 to 8 weeks from brief to final film. A longer film of two to three minutes with detailed design is more likely to take 8 to 10 weeks. Script sign-off and feedback rounds have the biggest effect on timing. How long does an animation project take?

How long should an explainer video be?

Most explainers work best at 60 to 90 seconds, and we aim to make a product clear in under two minutes. Training and internal films can run longer, because the audience is expected to watch to the end.

Should our explainer be 2D, 3D or motion graphics?

It depends on what you're explaining. Motion graphics suit software and data. Character animation suits stories with a human angle. 3D suits physical products, machinery and processes, and the assets can be reused in future films. Many explainers mix all three. 2D vs 3D animation

Why use animation instead of filming?

Animation can show things a camera can't: the inside of a product, a process that hasn't been built, or a factory line that can't be stopped for a shoot. It's also easier to update later, which matters when products or messages change. Live action vs animation
