3D Animation Studio in Manchester

We're a Manchester 3D animation studio that builds products, machines and characters from scratch, then makes them move. For brands that need to show something a camera can't, or can't afford to shoot.

What we make in 3D

What we make in 3D

3D Models

We've built a lot of things over the years. We've even modelled an entire factory of machines, from photos and measurements. No mean feat. Here's some industrial type products we modelled for Regency Glass.

3D Characters

Mascots and brand characters built as fully rigged 3D models, ready for ads, social and packaging. See our character animation page for how we design them.

3D brand and advertising films

Short, polished films for campaigns, product launches and social. We handle the concept, styleframes, modelling, animation and sound, so you get one team from brief to final export.

Product films

Somewhere where 3D comes into its own is when the product doesn't exist. We can help the client communicate something that hasn't even got to the production line. We've a few of these in development now, but as ever, we can't share them because it's all top secret!

CGI Product Visualization

Many times you have an idea, but nothing to show to your audience. This is where imagination comes to life. Where we can really go to town and build your world for you.

Technical and engineering animation

Complex machinery, internal mechanisms and processes shown clearly. We cut away, slow down and label what matters, so engineers trust it and buyers understand it.

Training and explainer content

3D makes hard-to-see processes easy to teach. We build animated training and onboarding films that people remember.

Solomon Commercials

Solomon Commercials

Solomon builds bespoke refrigerated vehicles. The engineering behind each one is detailed and technical. But the people choosing a supplier usually aren't engineers. They're procurement and operations leads in food distribution, healthcare and pharmaceutical logistics. They don't need the specs. They need to see, quickly, that Solomon can build at scale, build precisely, and be trusted with regulated, time-critical cargo.

That's where 3D comes in. A camera can only film the outside of a finished vehicle. In 3D, we could open it up: cutting away panels, isolating the systems that matter, and showing the precision engineering inside. Every vehicle was modelled from the CAD data Solomon gave us. We converted this and then textured and lit them.

The result is a 3D explainer that gets Solomon's capability across in the time it takes to watch. It runs on their website and plays at industry events. It does the explaining a sales engineer would normally do, without needing one in the room.

Here's our Solomon Commercials case study.

Jaguar Land Rover

Jaguar Land Rover

A film we made to help navigate 'range anxiety', this animation for the I-PACE was commissioned in the early years of Electric Vehicles. A lot more is known now, but when we made this, it was a genuine blocker to vehicle sales. To focus the message we designed this hyper stylised world to keep the attention on the messaging.

Why a Manchester 3D Studio?

We're a small senior team based in Manchester's Northern Quarter. You talk to the people doing the work, not an account manager.

We work with agencies and brands across the UK, and around the world. And if you're in the NW, we're close to some amazing coffee shops, so pop in.

FAQs | 3D Animation

How long does it take?

A 30–60 second 3D film typically takes 6 to 8 weeks. It can be quicker if the models are simple, longer if there's great detail. Having CAD files can shorten that considerably.

How much does it cost?

Cost depends on length, how many assets need modelling, and how detailed they need to be. So no real solid answer here. Sorry. Most projects fall between £20k and £50k, but we've had some go into 6 figures.

We always say, tell us your budget and we'll show you what's possible within it. There are many ways to tackle these projects.

Can you use CAD files?

99% of the time, yes. And knowing this at the outset will help massively. It often cuts out a whole process and can reduce the cost for you.

Is 3D/CGI cheaper than filming?

Often, yes, especially for products that are large, unfinished, or hard to get to a set. Once built, the model can be reused for new films and stills without another shoot. We did this with this commercial, building a set that could be changed quickly.

Do you only do 3D, or 2D as well?

We do a whole range of animation styles. Quite often we'll combine these together. So a 3D project may well have 2D elements within it anyway. Check our motion design page for more on this.
