The Roundtable

A look into one of the methods we use to push our creativity.

Our Monthly Roundtable Sessions

Something we value here at MightyGiant is cultivating a space where we can champion our creative ideas, and delve into our inquisitive natures. Our RoundTable sessions are a key component of this ethos, and whilst they are something we all agree should happen, we took a short sabbatical from them this year. Something about them felt like we’d lost the connection to its purpose, and so we used this time to reevaluate, rethink and revitalise not only the RoundTable sessions but ultimately, the direction of our team culture. 

We had been running RoundTable for a while and the initial goal was to get the team away from their desks, share the type of work that inspires them and spark conversations about what they like. Since starting RoundTable the team had changed, we’d also moved into a new space and over time, trying to fit this in whilst trying to navigate around busy periods began to feel like an unnecessary chore rather than a fun element of the day. 

As part of my role as Creative Director, I felt like a RoundTable reboot could be a great opportunity to look into our overall creative strategy, and align our free “play” time, with the same thinking and approach as we apply to our client work. The goal was to bring back some of that original focus, making it a safe space for the team to explore what it means when we say, ‘Be More Giant’ alongside other MightyGiant values like leaning into our curiosities, discussing industry news, our craft, as well as what inspires us. 

Our RoundTable now incorporates monthly themes, includes challenges, and we've set up a dedicated Slack channel for sharing ideas to keep the conversation going. We continue to use Milanote to create individual messy boards ready to bring our ideas to each RoundTable. We’ve moved to monthly sessions allowing for more time for themes to sink in and tick over. This approach allows for a deeper dive into certain areas that can lead into interesting workshops discussions about what the team would like to explore both individually and as a group. 

Whilst taking a step back and allowing time to evaluate how our team culture operated, it gave us the necessary space to rethink our approach. Now we move forward by combining our creative and production strategies in a more holistic way, which in turn creates the space for our team to thrive in. The RoundTable reboot has become our springboard to cultivate our ideas and talk freely about work that inspires us. It's a crucial step in providing fun, motivation and keeping our curiosities burning, which for a creative team provides the vital fuel that takes discussions beyond the table and influences all of our work. 

Right now, Being More Giant has never felt more exciting and we know there’s lots more to come.
